Smoothies are something that I do almost every day. Weather it is for breakfast or as a snack it is one of my favorite things to prepare that is healthy and fast. Sometimes, I can’t get as much fruit as I would like to so smoothies are an easier way for me to consume fruit and this raspberry smoothie bowl is just simply delicious, refreshing and easy on the go.

With smoothie bowls you can make endless variations. For this one I just kept it simple. Pretty much just bananas, raspberries and some healthy toppings.

Many other times I add some other ingredients such as spirulina and turmeric, which I love to incorporate as much as possible. I love spirulina because it helps rid the body off harmful toxins. The taste is quite funky, so if using, a teaspoon goes a long way.

Anyways, I know spring is here and in NJ, which is what I live, it actually snowed today. I am really looking forward to some warmer days. Not summer quite yet because I despite the humidity, however, a bit of warmer days would be great.

Where are you located? I must confess that even though I live in NJ it has never felt like home. I have been exploring the idea of moving my family somewhere that is not as populated, more quiet and where houses are not on top of each other. I would like to have my neighbors a bit more spread apart. Will see what I can find because I know my family wouldn’t mind a change of pace.

Onto the raspberry smoothie bowl. If you have a favorite variation, would you please share?. I have been looking for some other top hit flavors so if you have one please let me know. While my kids like every variation I make I am still looking for some other top hit contenders.

Anyways, I leave you with amazing, healthy and easy raspberry smoothie bowl that I hope you get to make, and remember, if you have an ultimate favorite smoothie bowl recipe, please share.

Until my next recipe.

Enjoy!

I love chocolate and lately I have been trying to incorporate it even on some savory recipes. Granted I am not using the sweet varieties but the darkest chocolate I can find. I prepared this high protein chocolate smoothie bowl as an after school snack on Friday and my kids couldn’t get enough of it.

Smoothie bowls tend to be on bit thicker than regular smoothies, or at least that is how I make them, otherwise all my toppings sink to the bottom.

Smoothie bowls are a great way to start the day or even to have as a snack. The variations are endless and on this one I used things I had on hand. We are loving hemp hearts right now. Then I added some chia seeds, cacao nibs and fresh fruit that I always have on hand.

Truly the sky is the limit when it comes to making smoothie bowls. Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner I figure I can make something that is healthy, easy and quick.

As some of you know, I don’t have much time on my hands lately. In 4 months my life will be way better and have a switch for the best since I will be graduating from Physician Assistant school and be able to continue with my normal life. Being a mom, work and carry on with my life more or less.

Anyways, I have another healthy, quick, dessert that I made over the weekend that I want to post very soon. I always make double the batch whenever I am baking or cooking so that we can have it for several days. Not necessarily concurrent days but at least another time throughout the week so that it doesn’t seem to repetitive that whe are eating the same thing over and over.

Anyways, start making your own smoothie bowls. I know once you start you won’t be able to stop. So healthy, good and easy.

Enjoy!

As the year winds down I think about what 2018 may bring. I truly would love to fast forward my life a few months but unfortunately I have to sit back and relax. On the meantime, I just have to keep planing and be positive and drink my carrot cake smoothie for now!

I truly can’t wait to announce all that it is to come for the blog in a few months. So excited to open that chapter of my life.

Anyways, I actually made this carrot cake smoothie a while back and never got to post the recipe in the blog or making it again for that matter, however, this morning, when I got up I had about 2 lbs of carrots sitting in the fridge that I didn’t know what to do with so I decided to make the smoothie.

The taste is out of this world. I actually doubled the batch and stored some in the fridge without the flaxseed meal since otherwise it becomes gel like. When we are ready to consume it we will add the flaxseed meal.

That is what happens when you add flaxseed meal to smoothies, it becomes gel like. Unless you are about to drink it right away I suggest to add it later.

I think this carrot cake smoothie mixture can also be frozen as popsicles. I think this summer I will actually do a batch and try it for the first time.

Anyways, I wanted to start with the healthy recipes for the blog. I know many of you go on a healthy diet/lifestyle the beginning of the year so I want to give you a few ideas.

I really hope you get to try this carrot cake smoothie. It has become one of my favorite smoothies to date. A great way to start the day.

Enjoy!

I love making smoothies on a regular basis, not only because they are super easy to make but you can add pretty much anything to them. Most often than not I like to have them for breakfast but sometimes I also consume them after working out or even as a snack. This banana peanut butter smoothie is a great contender for an after work out drink, full of protein and it tastes just like a milk shake.

Have you tried to make your own smoothies instead of purchasing them at the store? Smoothies tend to be quite costly and ingredient quality lacks sometimes. I feel much better when I can make my own and control what goes in. This banana peanut butter smoothie is the prime example.

Today I was able try Burt’s Bees® new product, Burt’s Bees Protein Healthy Radiance – Vanilla and add it to my smoothie.

I love the fact that I can use protein powder that I can trust, especially given the fact that my kids are the ones that also consume smoothies I make.

Burt’s Bees protein blend was carefully formulated with five protein sources Pea, Rice, Flax Seed, Sunflower Seed, and Oats to achieve high digestibility and a complete essential amino acid profile.

Nature is incredibly resilient and we want that same strength and flexibility in our own lives. That’s why they tapped some of nature’s most powerful ingredients to support our nutrition needs.

My kids are both growing but are involved in sports. Anything that I can feed them with extra protein is well received, especially if it tastes like something sweet they would like like a milk shake.

If you haven’t started making your own smoothies it is something that takes no longer than 5 minutes so I hope you try it soon. If you want to start getting into healthy habits making smoothies is an easy way to start.

Enjoy!

Making smoothies is something that I like to do year-round. My family starts most days with a smoothie so that we can get our vitamins, antioxidants and minerals from early in the morning. This immune boosting orange smoothie was just perfect to start the day. Super refreshing and tasty!

When making smoothies, I like to switch things around and try different ingredients. I normally use frozen fruit, bananas and milk but today I wanted to create something with an orange base. I made this immune boosting orange smoothie and my kids loved it.

Some nutrients that are particularly important for immunity include: Vitamins A, B2, B6, C, D, and E, as well as minerals such as selenium and zinc. I decided to add about ½ inch chunk of fresh ginger to the smoothie because it has amazing health and detoxifying properties. Also, consuming citrus fruits that are high in Vitamin C during the winter months helps boost your immune system and quickly clears out any cold/flu viruses. Thus, I also wanted to incorporate a high-quality orange juice into the smoothie base. I used Florida’s Natural® Brand Orange Juice, which is not-from-concentrate and made entirely in the United States. Not only is it extremely convenient, but it’s also very high in vitamin C. Since liquid is needed to blend the smoothie, it is the perfect ingredient to add.

Whenever I purchase orange juice, I make sure to buy Florida’s Natural because it’s made entirely with oranges grown by real, Florida citrus farmers who care deeply about the quality of their crops. With Florida’s Natural, you get the best quality juice that actually tastes real—not artificial like many other brands.

If you haven’t started making your own smoothies, I urge you to start. It is extremely easy and very economical. I have purchased smoothies before at smoothie bars, as well as gyms, to find out that not only they are very expensive, but the taste and ingredient quality isn’t very good.

Making your own smoothies is great because you can add an array of ingredients and make endless combinations. You can pretty much add type of vegetables, fruits, protein, nuts etc. My kids tend to love any combination I come up with. (Plus, they are already used to drinking any concoction I make, so I am thankful for that!) Sometimes I even freeze smoothies as popsicles. Try freezing this smoothie recipe for a healthy, refreshing snack.

Enjoy!

If you have been following my blog for a while I am sure you know that I try to keep certain foods organic as well as use produce that is in season as much as possible.

I think it becomes even more important if you are an avid cook and like to make sure your meals taste the best they could possibly taste.

When using produce in season not only it tastes better but the amount of chemicals used to grow them is less so potentially this means less pesticides in your plate.

In addition, when using produce and fruits in season the carbon foot print to obtain these products is less since they are coming from local sources rather than cross country or overseas.

There are also certain fruits and vegetables that I always get organic. Getting organic produce supports farmers that are actually growing produce in a more sustainable manner since this way of farming has fewer environmental impacts per acre.

Research has demonstrated that organic fruits and vegetables have smaller amounts of pesticide residue than produce that was grown conventionally and there are certain vegetables and fruits that are more susceptible to this rule. I mean don’t get me wrong, I would love to have all the fruits and vegetables we consume organic but this can get very pricy so I just make sure I stick to the list below and make sure I purchase these products organic.

I have also device a list of seasonable produce so that you can take advantage and find out what to buy each month. This is the list that I go by and quite frankly it is very helpful. I also purchase my produce at the same local stores where I have develop a relationship with store owners since I always question where the produce comes from.

Often times you can read where the produce comes from, as it is label. Many comes from places like Mexico, chile and other South American countries, which in my opinion is way too far. Some come from California and in my case living in NJ, many of it comes from here! A much better option for me.

It is our responsibility to be kinder to the earth. By modifying just a few simple things in your cooking it can make a big impact. Being mindful of our environment it is very important to ensure that humanity can remaing in it for years to come.

TIPS ON HOW TO EAT GREENER

I am an avid advocate of eating organically and eating green by minimizing my carbon foot print so here are some resources.

Do not waste food, when you waste food, you waste the energy used to grow, transport and cook it. In addition, when food waste is sent to landfills instead of being composted, it releases methane, a greenhouse gas 23 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

To reduce gas emissions, buy local and seasonal produce.

Don’t rely on heavily packaged and processed foods, which take basic foods and add many more steps to it such as processing, refining, packaging, transporting and storing, which all require fossil fuel.

For these yogurt protein smoothie 3 ways I used fruit that is in season. I used organic strawberries, organic mangoes, meyer lemons and pineapple.

I also used Silk dairy-free yogurt alternative. I use strawberry, mango and pineapple flavors. Because the fruit is naturally sweet and so are the yogurts there is no need to add sweetener to the smoothies.

You can also sign up to receive the Silk newsletters and take advantage of their many coupons. If you use their products you should take advantage of their many coupons they offer.

When making the smoothies I had a little bit leftover from each so I went ahead and froze them as popsicles. A great idea if your kids like them. Healthier and more economical and now that the weather is getting warmer it is the perfect healthy snack.

Well I hope you enjoy these yogurt protein smoothie 3 ways. They are sure perfect for a snack, breakfast or any time of the day.

Enjoy!
