i made these last night. They're a bit sticky. Not too bad though for not having a candy thermometer. :) I read your other comments about the temp possibly being the culprit. I certainly want to go get one now. If only just for making these. So yummy! Thank you for the recipe!

These were delicious. I added a couple of strips of orange peel to the sugar mixture while cooking, which gave it a subtle orange flavor. It's also very important to boil the sugar mixture to the soft ball stage . I learned this the hard way! My candy thermometer didn't want to move past 200 degrees, so I estimated when it was done. My estimate was off by several degrees and my candy thermometer is in the trash. My walnuts stayed sticky, even though they were still delicious, they didn't dry to that crunchy stage. My second batch turned out perfectly, easy to put into little paper bags for gifts.

I just want to say thank you so much for this recipe. I tried a similar version of this but it was store bought. Cannot compare flavor wise to homemade. I just finish jarring these for my son's teachers. I know they will love it. Either way, I didn't think they were going to come out right because I had never made this recipe before and when I poured the sugared cinnamon on top of the nuts it was really sticky. I honestly didn't think it was going to hardened, but it did. I used regular white cane sugar and almond milk (I didn't have cows milk in the house). Once they cooled down I finished separating any nuts that were still stuck together. It really did come out yummy and it's a nice and thoughtful homemade present. Thanks a million.
