  1. Looks great! I’ll be making this sometime soon. I have a question about the nutrition facts – its for 25 grams, is that like 1 or 2 pieces out of 40?

  2. looks so yummy, i love easy desserts, this could also be transformed into granola. :)

  3. Unknown, it is for one piece which = 25 gr :-). For every Extra bite you have you have to multiple the nutrition facts!

  4. I love how cheery the pictures are. :) They look super yummy! I haven’t had something like this in ages but I might make them in July when it’s too hot to bake.

  5. These look awesome and I know my boys would love them too!

  6. These things are so dangerous! I make something very similar and I seriously make a double batch and they’re gone in days!

  7. Omigod THANKS MIRYAM! Ever since the chocolate and prune energy bars I have been waiting for more quickie recipes!

I can cook healthy really easily when I have time to cook, but the rest of the time…you know how it goes. On the run, and you eat what you can sometimes.

  9. LOVE THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. In the ingredients you refer to brown rice cereal, what exactly do you mean by that? I ask because I’m in Australia and what you are callin oatmeal we call rolled oats, so I just wanted to check what it was before I started. Thanks

  11. Linda,

brown rice cereal is like rice Krispies but a version made with brown rice.

You are right, rolled oats is the same as oatmeal and I actually should change this for less confusion.

One suggestion I may offer when yo make these is to reduce the honey a bit if you can as I found them a bit sweet :-)

Thanks for visiting my blog and let me know how the energy bites turn out.

  12. Do you think these could work without the coconut?

I’m thinking of making them for my son with allergies by swapping out the peanut butter for sunbutter but he also reacts to coconut so I’d have to drop that out as well.

  13. This looks really yummy! Does anyone have a suggestion for something I could use in place of peanut butter? I know that would likely change the purpose of the treat, but I have a metabolic disorder (PKU) that requires my eating a low protein diet. I’ve been looking for a granola-type recipe that I could convert, and this might work if I can find a low protein substitute for the peanut butter. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    • I was going to suggest almond butter but that wouldn’t work either. How about you make a mixture of nutella, like 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup and pitted dates previous pureed? That may work however I think it will be awfully sweet. Apple sauce I don’t think it would work bc it is to liquid like. I am lost for ideas………if I think of anything else I will let you know.

  14. These are soooo good!! added raisins instead of coconut and it tasted great!

  15. These look like an easy and perfect afternoon snack for my kids! Sharing today on my FB page!

  16. YUM! I just pinned these for later. I always like ‘bites’ like these to grab after a workout or for an afternoon snack. Thanks!!

  17. Hi, instead of brown cereal what could I use?.. Thanks…

  18. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I can’t get these to roll into balls. They just keep falling apart. I left out the powdered cocoa & cut back on the honey., aside from that I followed the recipe.

    • It could be due to the honey. If you like add some liquid like milk if you don’t want to add the honey. You need some sort of liquid to bring the ingredients together. I hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by.

  19. These are fantastic and quick to make! Made for a great treat after a nice spring walk.

  20. I’m from Britian so am not quite clear what the nutrition grade is, could anyone elaborate? It would be much appreciated, thanks!

  21. Hi!

I absolutely love this recipe. I’m a girl that loves food with texture, so the oats are a nice touch. I also feature it here: http://destinationfemme.com/junk-food-dupes-the-healthy-version-evc/ :)
